I'm the wife of Caleb, but I'd like to write the review myself, as I use a rocker more often then my husband does.

We bought this rocker to take place of the old family rocker that we've had in the family for 3 generations. We weren't looking for something too expensive, or made of solid wood that would last a lifetime, but something that would allow us to preserve the rocker we don't want to lose.
Long story short, we have a 2 and a half year old, and very soon (I'm 38 weeks pregnant) an infant. My son that's 2 has a hard time falling asleep on his own, so he generally has one of us put him to sleep at night, or during his naps. It's hard to put him to sleep sitting in an old rocker that's falling apart and creaks badly due to the wood splitting, and I like gliding rocking chairs more for the fact that I've got relatively short legs that can't always reach the floor when rocking in a traditional rocking chair. I'm 5'3" and 170lbs to give you an idea of the weight being used on this rocking chair. We had received this rocking chair Tuesday 1/15/19 (I will be writing an updated review after a month, then a few months after purchase about how it's holding up) and got it together before my son's first morning nap. I got my son to sleep in less than 5 minutes rocking lightly in this chair, and was amazed it didn't creak or make any noise while rocking (or at least not audible for a tired little one to hear). The cushions are comfortable, and the material is very soft and I think durable. We did follow the other reviews to inspect every piece of wood before assembling (as we do nearly every product we order online), and test it with different people to check for wood splitting, or other broken pieces to make sure it was in good shape. The rocker came in quickly (less than 6 days), came in the color we wanted (white paint, dark grey cushions), and every piece was there and not broken in any way.
After testing it for a couple days to see if the result was the same with my son (every nap, and right before bed), I could not imagine having anything else! My son every time for his naps, and going to bed at night, would fall asleep in less than 15 minutes! It was definitely more of a miracle for us as it usually takes us 30 minutes to an hour to get him to sleep.
For those looking for a solid wood and extra durability on the chair, I would recommend looking at finding a carpenter to make you one, or find a local store that sells them, but I know for a fact that rocking chairs do not come cheap when they are made with more durable products. If you're looking for a rocking chair that will last you maybe a year or two, this one is perfect for the price. I've sat here and read review after reviews, both good and bad, old and new on this product and I understand the concerns people have about it, but mistakes can happen, especially with furniture. Not to be judgemental, but this rocking chair is definitely not made for those who are on the heavier end, I'd recommend a swivle rocking chair or a solid wood traditional rocking chair for those that are.
Don't let these negative reviews fool you, this is a great product for the price, and so far have had no complaints about it, the ottoman, or the lumbar pillow (which these two were a huge plus for the price!) After about a month I'll post another review with how this product is holding up, and if it's still as I mentioned before.

Update after 2 months of use:
Even after using this rocker about 3 times a day with my 2 year old and my infant the rocker is amazing quality. Still rocks just as smooth as day one, still just as comfortable, and still just as sturdy. I would still buy this product again! Love it still!

I was extremely hesitant to purchase a glider without sitting on it first, however I found one at Toys R Us that was by the same manufacturer and looked almost the same. After emailing Stork Craft, they confirmed it was the same. I had been looking at this one for some time and was excited it was exactly what I had thought it would be, sitting in it or not. It was super easy to put together with the provided Allen wrench. At first glance, it is beautiful, but after really inspecting it and sitting in it, it is definitely worth more than it is priced at. Although our baby is not here yet, we have sat in it daily, gliding and really trying to break it in. We did buy the 2 year protection, just for peace of mind.. The side pockets are convenient to put the tv remote in & cell phone, so not lost. The lumbar pillow was a nice bonus, although I probably will replace with something else.. One thing I struggled with is knowing exactly how tall the back is, as I am 5'10" and need to lay my head back.... this is great.. It's just high enough to lean back comfortably so I can rest my eyes.. From top of seat cushion to top of back cushion it is 29".

In all, I definitely recommend this glider.. Buy the extra $19 protection plan, and you literally can't go wrong.. Also, super quiet!!

I searched the Internet for countless hours looking for a glider for our nursery (and that might be an understatement!). I began to grow disheartened as everything even remotely affordable had bad reviews. Finally I stumbled across this glider and decided to go for it. I cannot speak to the long-term value of this glider, but so far it seems like a great purchase. Things I like about this glider:

-Low price. That's a given!

-It has a high back. I am 5'8" and can rest my head comfortably. The main reason I chose this style of glider as opposed to the plush style is because I wanted to be able to rest my head.

-It comes with an ottoman. What a great value for the price! The plush gliders are not only very expensive but they never come with ottomans.

-So far, zero creaking and squeaking! This was a common complaint for many of the other gliders I researched online and a big consideration for us. I can't speak to the long-term wear as we are still waiting for baby (currently past due!) but will try to update in a few months. I am also interested to see how the cushion holds up.

-It came quickly, in good condition, and was easy to assemble. The ottoman requires zero assembly and my husband assembled the chair in about 10-15 minutes.

-It has a pocket on the side which I know will come in handy!

In my limited experience using this glider, I would definitely recommend it! So far very pleased with our purchase.

***Update***

After using this chair for a month with our newborn son I am still very happy with it, it has stood up well so far to daily use and my two year old also climbing all over it. I am still very happy with this chair and will continue to update if anything changes

For the price I am very happy with this for the nursery for our second son. I have not put this to use yet but wanted to write a review after assembling it. The quality is what you would expect for the price, I don't think this will be a piece I pass down to my children, however it seems like it will last the few years we need.

We previously had the IKEA rocker for our first son but my wife wanted something that rocked easier and had cushioned arms.

This went together very easy the Ottoman and base of the chair come preassembled, it is 2 screws to secure the back and 3x per arm, it was well packed and took almost no time to get it out and together.

I do notice a faint oder from the fabric but I'm sure that will fade as it airs out.

I will update this review after use but so far I would recommend this.

TLDR: nice glider for the price, if I needed another I would buy again or recommend to a friend

This glider is one of the best baby purchases we have made. Initially, we had an old rocking chair from my parents that we wanted to use because it was free and I wasn't sure how much we'd be in the baby's room in the early days. I figured we'd be nursing in the living room or our bedroom etc. But we decided we wanted something more comfortable, with a foot stool so we decided to go ahead and try out this one from www,HawkinsWoodshop.com It was simple enough to put together and we've been using it many times a day ever since. We struggled with nursing in the early newborn days and then I read a tip that said to nurse in the same place, the same way every time if you're having trouble. So I started going into the nursery every feeding time, and sitting in the chair the same way. It's now been almost 3 months of easy nursing since we started doing that. It's not necessarily a result of the chair, but having a comfortable chair was KEY to being able to spend so much time in there. I LOVE the rocking ottoman too. I use it every time I sit down. Plus, the colors are beautiful and look great in our simple, beachy nursery. We love it!

I bought this as a gift for my daughter in law for her baby shower. Although the box was partially damaged, it went together quite easily and no damage occurred to the chair. So far my daughter in law has thanked me 3 times since Saturday (two days ago)! The fabric on the cushions is quite soft, like butter really! The lumbar support really is a nice addition, and was a wonderful surprise! This chair just works and I can't wait to see my new grand daughter being rocked to sleep in it! I would recommend this for anyone, not just a mom to be! The price was less than any brick and mortar store that I could find. Thanks so much!
